BURLESON – It is with both joy and sorrow that we announce the passing of James Peyton Stallings. He went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on February 28, 2026. Born June 25, 1930, to Reagan and Nell (Julian) Stallings, he lived a long wonderful life. He loved like Jesus just as we are called to do. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Shari Halterman; grandchildren, Corey (Leah) Halterman, Paige (Steven) Ward, Sabra (Joey) Hensley and Zach (Donna) Stallings; his 10 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sherrylynn Stallings; son-in-law, Tim Halterman; stepchildren and their families, Becky (Zack) Miller, Mark (Helena) Rheudasil and David (Pam) Glass; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 58 years, Nancy (d. 2011); his wife of nearly nine years, Charlotte (d. 2020); son, James Mitchell; great-granddaughter, Grace Makena; his loving parents; sisters, Weezie and Mildred; brother, Billy; and many more loving friends and family. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Greenwood Funeral Home in Memorial Suite B, 3344 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, TX 76107. Celebration of Life; 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2026, at Alsbury Baptist Church, 500 NE Alsbury Blvd., Burleson, TX 76028. A private family burial will be held. Jim’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Three Oaks Hospice, who watched over him with tender, loving care for the last three years.
