EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso police are investigating a suspicious death at a canal behind some homes in the Lower Valley after the body of a 20-year-old man was discovered.

According to the El Paso Police Department, the discovery was made after officers received a call at around 7:54 a.m. regarding “an unknown problem” at the 7500 block of Nimitz Place, near North Loop Drive.

EPPD said the canal was dry when the body was found.

So far, investigators can’t determine how long the body had been there, and police said they are waiting for the medical examiner and detectives to continue with their investigation to determine that and the cause of death.

Also, investigators have yet to identify the body and notify the next of kin.
