Early voting results show that several U.S. House Representatives are taking a clear lead in several key races in the Democratic and Republican primaries.
Selected races include only contested U.S. House seats that fall within Community Impact’s Houston coverage zone, which includes Districts 2, 7, 8, 14, 18, 22, 29 and 38. To learn more about the candidates running in each race, check out these Q&As.
Republican results
In the Republican race for Districts 2, 8, 14, 18, 22, 29 and 38, candidates are leading by more than 50% margins, although the candidate in District 29, Martha Fierro, is running unopposed.
Republican leaders include Steve Toth, Jessica Hart Steinmann, Randy Weber, Ronald Dwayne Whitefield, Trever Nehls and Jon Bonck, respectively.
For District 7, no candidates have garnered more than 50% of the vote. Alexander Hale and Tina Cohen are in the lead, with Cohen seeing 29.36% of the vote and Hale seeing 34.83% of the vote.
Democrat results
In the Democratic race for Districts 2, 7, 8, 18, 22, 29 and 38, candidates are leading by more than 50% margins, although candidates in District 2 and 7 are running unopposed.
Democrat leaders include Shaun Finnie, Lizzie Pannill Fletcher, Laura Jones, Christian Menefee, Marquette Greene-Scott, Sylvia Garcia and Melissa McDonough, respectively.
In District 14, no candidates have more than 50% of the vote. Richard Davis is leading with 47.68% of the vote, with Konstantinos Vogiatzis trailing with 28.78%.
