AUSTIN, Texas — Students at the University of Texas at Austin are holding a candlelight vigil Tuesday evening to honor the victims of Sunday’s deadly mass shooting on West 6th Street.
The event, organized by Students Demand Action at UT Austin, is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the South Mall Lawn on campus.
ganizers say 100 candles will be provided by the group and Student Services. Memorials are being set up in conjunction with Vidas Robadas where attendees can place flowers, cards and pictures.

The University of Texas Police Department is increasing its presence around South Mall and West Campus for the event, according to organizers.
Because Students Demand Action at UT Austin is a registered student organization, the event is limited to the campus community and outside guests are not permitted to attend.

Three people were killed and 13 others were injured in Sunday’s shooting. The FBI is investigating the shooting as a potential act of terrorism. UT Austin President Jim Davis said one of the three killed was a student at the university.
