With the 2025-26 high school sports season ongoing, the El Paso Times will give readers a chance to vote to identify El Paso’s top athletes.

This week, readers can vote for which El Paso Times‘ El Paso Children’s Hospital high school male athlete had the best performance in track & Field, baseball and basketball.

Here are this week’s nominees:

Toraino Johnson, Jr, Andress basketball. He scroed game-winning basket vs. Bel Air and scored 23 points in win vs. Abilene Wylie in 5A basketball playoffs.Anthony Rubio, Burges basketball. He made the go ahead basket in playoff win vs. Amarillo Palo Duro and scored 24 points overall.Julien Falk-Ramirez, Eastwood basketball. In two playoff games last week, he scored 28 points.Tanner Jones, Franklin basketball. In playoff win vs. Odessa Permian, he scored 21 points.Mario Velasco, Jr., Eastwood track and field. He won the shot put at the Del Valle Invite with a mark of 55 feet, 2 inches.Anthony Ortiz, Eastlake baseball. In win vs. Little Elm, he pitched a complete game shutout, striking out seven and gave up just four hits.Andrew Nieto, Pebble Hills baseball. Had good outing vs. Round Rock, allowing just one hit and striking out five.Aaron Cordero, Canutillo baseball. In win vs. Desert View, he struckout nine batters in five innings and was the winning pitcher.Mathew Saucedo, Hanks basketball. He had 25 points and nine assists in playoff game vs. Burges.Joseph Quintanar, Jefferson baseball. In Arizona Tournament, he had a .727 batting average, drove in eight runs and had five extra base hits. As a pitcher, hegave just one run and struckout 15 vs. Desert Christian.
