The Travis County Republican Party has requested that early voting ballot tabulation happen on Election Day, which could push reporting later into the evening.

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — The Travis County Clerk is advising that early voting results for the primary election may be reported a little later than usual Tuesday night.

Travis County Clerk Dyana Limon-Mercado said typically, early voting results are tabulated the Saturday following early voting so that they’re ready to be posted at 7 p.m. on Election Day, or when the last voter has voted. However, the Travis County Republican Party has requested that early voting ballot tabulation happen on Election Day instead.

The clerk’s office said the early voting ballot tabulation process can take several hours, depending on the volume and mix of voter types, including in-person voting, mail-in ballots, limited ballots and provisional ballots.

The unofficial early voting totals shared by the clerk’s office show 18.57% of registered voters had cast their ballots by the end of early voting on Friday, Feb. 27. That’s a total of 164,994 voters. Of that number, 33,517 were Republican voters and 131,477 were Democratic voters.

The clerk’s office said the first release of results will not be posted until after all polling places have closed Tuesday night and all voters in live have been allowed to cast their ballots. For context, during early voting, the clerk’s office said voter processing extended up to an hour and a half past closing to ensure all voters could vote.

As always, polls will close at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and anyone in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Travis County early voting and partial ballot by mail results will be posted here Tuesday night after polls close and the last voter has voted. Election Day results will continue to be posted on that site throughout the night as they are received and processed.

After 7 p.m., you can find the latest results for local races on KVUE.com/Elections.
