Single in Austin? There’s good news for you — the capital city was recently ranked among the top 10 best cities for single people in the United States.
Real estate marketplace Zumper curated “The Best U.S. Cities for Singles in 2025” by evaluating the top 100 most populous American cities based on eight factors: median rent prices for a one-bedroom apartment; number of restaurants and entertainment options per capita; cost of living; median annual income; unemployment rates; and of course, the percentage of single people.
Based on this analysis, Austin came in at No. 10.
The report cited the city’s single median income of $68,630, one of the highest among the top cities, as a key strength. Only about 44% of Austin’s population is single — lower than other cities in the top 10 — but its affordability and lifestyle offset that.
Houston came in at No. 27 on the list, with San Antonio ranked at No. 48 and Dallas close behind at No. 50. El Paso, Arlington, Irving, Fort Worth and Plano made appearances in the bottom half of the list.
Here are the study’s key findings.
