The city’s new beach access road is officially open to the public.
According to Port Aransas City Manager David Parsons, Beach Access Road 1-B opened on Monday, March 2. The new road, located off State Highway 361, just south of Cinnamon Shore North, is expected to help with the influx of traffic during Spring Break.
Construction on Beach Access Road 1-B, which began in July of last year, included a 5-foot- wide sidewalk on one side of the road, a center median and a two-lane road that expands to three lanes where the street meets SH-361, with a center-left-turn lane, a right-turn lane and a lane for motorists coming onto the road.
The project cost an estimated $1.3 million to complete.
