EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons unit is currently investigating an aggravated assault on Wednesday, March 4, in far East El Paso.
At around 5:30 a.m. on March 4, officers were dispatched to the 14300 block of Armando Silva Drive to reports of an aggravated assault in progress.
The street was cleared by 4:30 p.m. after a heavy police presence took over for much of the day. Officers received a call about a disturbance at a home in the area, according to the El Paso Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found a 29-year-old woman who had been shot. She was taken to a local hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.
Police also located a 37-year-old man inside the home. Authorities say he appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Forensics crews were seen removing a body from the residence. Although the scene was cleared, police say the investigation remains ongoing as they continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
