Registration began this week at the Salvation Army’s Center of Hope, where families signed up to receive gifts and support this Christmas. Volunteers and staff are working together to spread holiday cheer.

The Angel Tree program continues to make a lasting impact in the Coastal Bend community, helping ensure that every child wakes up to a brighter Christmas morning.

Polly Harris, Advisory Board Chair for The Salvation Army, said the organization’s work extends well beyond the holidays.

“It’s not just at Christmas time, it’s all throughout the year,” Harris said. “We do mostly families here at our shelter. We’re the only shelter in Corpus Christi that allows families to stay together.”

Major Nathanael Doria, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend, expressed his gratitude to the community for its continued generosity.

“We want to give thanks to the Coastal Bend,” Major Doria added. “This is my third Christmas, and it’s amazing to see that not only they respond, but they respond on time. We start giving the presents away the first week of December.”
