4 East Texas girls basketball teams competing for state championships

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KLTV/KTRE) – The high school girls basketball season culminates in San Antonio this week and four East Texas teams will be vying for state titles.

THURSDAY

1A D1

Broaddus (35-5) vs Eula (36-2), 11 a.m.

Broaddus is making its second appearance in the state championship game and they are looking to go back-to-back. The Lady Bulldogs beat Eula last year in the state game, 56-39.

1A D2

Saltillo (34-6) vs Nazareth (31-6), 1 p.m.

Saltillo is making its fourth appearance in the state tournament and its second championship game in a row. The Lady Lions lost to Nazareth last year, 53-31.

2A D2

Martin’s Mill (30-5) vs Lipan (34-5), 7 p.m.

The Martin’s Mill Lady Mustangs have been the standard in 2A girls basketball. The Lady Mustangs are making their sixth straight and 20th overall appearance in the state tournament. Martin’s Mill is looking to win its third state championship in a row, a feat the program has never accomplished.

FRIDAY

3A D2

Central Heights (32-5) vs Wall (36-3), 1 p.m.

Central Heights is making its first appearance in the state tournament since winning it all in 2001. The Lady Devils won a thriller over Jourdanton in the semifinals, 46-43.
