Notable: A win Friday would give Lincoln its fifth state title, which would be a new Dallas ISD record. Lincoln is currently tied with South Oak Cliff for that record with four each. Lincoln could also join South Oak Cliff as the only Dallas ISD girls basketball teams to win back-to-back state titles, with SOC accomplishing that in 1977 and 1978. Lincoln has won 18 games in a row, with the average margin of victory being 47.6 points during the streak. Old Dominion signee Ar’Jayla Elder, North Texas signee Bralyah Miller and Lanae Dallas are all capable of having a big scoring game on any given night, and Dallas led the team with 17 points in Tuesday’s 46-26 state semifinal win over eight-time state champion Brock. Elder was named the MVP of last year’s 60-32 rout of Cuero in the state championship game, as she scored 19 points. All-state guard Jada Patterson tore her ACL this summer but returned for the playoffs. She had eight points against Brock.

Notable: Fredericksburg was No. 11 in the final 4A state rankings but beat No. 16 Sinton, No. 13 Carrizo Springs and No. 6 Bridge City in the last three rounds to extend its winning streak to 23 games. Rilyn Grona scored 17 points in the win over Bridge City and Micaella Petty added 13 points. Fredericksburg failed to reach a state championship game in its previous six trips to state.

Notable: Last year, Denton Ryan became the first Denton ISD school to ever win a state title in girls basketball. This year, it is trying to go back-to-back, and it will take a 17-game winning streak and No. 24 national ranking into the state final. Denton Ryan has a chance to join Frisco Liberty (2023-24), Cedar Park (2021-22), Amarillo (2018-19) and Canyon (2014-17) as schools that have won two or more consecutive state titles in the UIL’s second-largest classification in the last 20 years. Kaylin Jackson was named the MVP of last year’s state championship game after she scored 24 points on 9-for-11 shooting from the field and grabbed eight rebounds in a 58-47 win over San Antonio Wagner. Jackson, an SMU signee, is one of three Division I signees on the Ryan roster, along with Kinley Lewis (James Madison) and Zaviyana Madison (Incarnate Word). Denton Ryan brought back its entire roster from last season, and Lewis and Jamyla Anderson scored 11 points apiece and Jackson added 10 in Tuesday’s 40-28 state semifinal win over Prosper Walnut Grove, the state’s eighth-ranked 5A team. Denton Ryan’s defense has been superb all season, allowing 37.6 points per game, and it held four-star Oklahoma pledge Finley Chastain from Walnut Grove to eight points.
Leander Glenn (35-3)

Notable: Glenn, ranked No. 7 in the state, beat state No. 1-ranked San Antonio Wagner in the regional final and also has wins this season over 4A Division II state finalist Fredericksburg and 5A Division II state semifinalist Cedar Park. Elizabeth Lee, a 6-0 junior guard, scored 24 points in a 54-42 state semifinal win over La Porte, ranked No. 23 in the state, and 6-2 freshman post player Jennah Lee had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Glenn has won 15 games in a row, with four of those games decided by fewer than 10 points.

Notable: Argyle has a chance to win the first state title in a team sport for the school since it joined Class 5A. Its other girls basketball state titles came in 2A (2006) and 4A (2015-19), while its volleyball team (2025) and baseball team (2023) were each a state runner-up in 5A. Argyle has won 18 of its last 20 games, with the only losses in that span coming against Denton Ryan, which is a 5A Division I state finalist. Landry Murphy has averaged 11.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists in the playoffs, and she nearly had a triple-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in a regional final win over 2025 state champion Lubbock Monterey. Wrigley Green is averaging 14.6 points in the playoffs and a team-high 12.6 points and 6.4 rebounds on the season. Argyle has made 254 3-pointers and is shooting 33% from 3-point range as a team, and Green (72 made 3-pointers) and Kensley Vest (62 made 3-pointers) have been the team’s most prolific long-range shooters. Vest is averaging 10.4 points in the playoffs. Argyle averages 15.1 steals per game, and Green and Lexi Ehrhardt are tied for the team lead with 123 steals apiece.
Mont Belvieu Barbers Hill (37-3)

Notable: Barbers Hill has won 31 games in a row and hasn’t lost since Nov. 20. Junior point guard Brooklynn Roberson scored 15 points in a 34-31 state semifinal win over Cedar Park. Autumn LeCompte, a 6-0 senior forward, is another key player for Barbers Hill. Barbers Hill averages 54.6 points but will be facing an Argyle defense that allows 33.7 points per contest. Barbers Hill is trying to win its first girls basketball state title as a 5A school. Its other three championships came in 3A.

Notable: Maci Pringle, a 6-1 junior forward, has averaged 22 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks in the last two rounds in wins over state No. 2-ranked North Crowley and Cedar Hill despite playing with a clear-plastic face mask to protect the nose she fractured in the first round of the playoffs. For the season, Pringle averages 20.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.5 steals, and she shoots 55.2% from the field. Brooklyn Gray is the only other player averaging double figures in scoring with 12.7 points per game, and she shoots 34.6% from 3-point range. Flower Mound reached a state championship game for the first time with a 57-45 win over Cedar Hill on Tuesday, and Gray, Lorelei Ebert and Emily Tran combined for 11 of Flower Mound’s 14 points in the fourth quarter, with each hitting a key 3-pointer in the quarter. Ebert averages 7.8 points and 6.8 rebounds and Tran averages 6.4 points.
Humble Summer Creek (33-4)

Notable: Senior guard Kennedy Simpson is back after being named the MVP of last year’s state final, in which she scored 21 points and was 14-for-20 at the free throw line in a 52-49 win over Cedar Hill. Simpson showed she can take over a game late, as she scored the final 10 points for Humble Summer Creek over the final three minutes in that win over Cedar Hill as her team rallied from an 18-point third-quarter deficit. Simpson, a Tulane signee, scored 21 points in a 60-48 win over San Antonio Brennan in Tuesday’s state semifinal and Summer Creek also got 18 points from Addison Martin. Summer Creek, which has won 19 games in a row, eliminated Brennan’s five-star Duke signee, Bella Flemings, a McDonald’s All-American who is rated the 16th-best player in the nation in the Class of 2026.

Notable: Lancaster takes a 12-game winning streak into its first state championship game. Arianna Davis, a 6-2 senior, led Lancaster with 16 points in Tuesday’s 51-37 state semifinal win over Denton Braswell, and Ava Womack added 13 points and MaKenzie White scored 12. Old Dominion signee Journee Hampton, a 5-7 senior point guard, leads Lancaster in scoring at 18.1 points per game (according to stats on MaxPreps), Davis averages 12.8 points and White averages 12.3 points. Lancaster went 5-1 against 6A, 5A and 4A teams that reached the state semifinals, with the only loss being 78-74 in double overtime to Westlake on Nov. 15.
Austin Westlake (40-0)

Notable: Westlake, ranked No. 12 nationally by MaxPreps, has a chance to become the first UIL undefeated state champion since Class 5A Cedar Park in the 2021-22 season. Duncanville, which went 39-0 in the 2015-16 season, is the last 6A team to finish undefeated. Tamia King had 12 points and 14 rebounds in a 51-50 win over Alvin Shadow Creek in the state semifinals, and freshman point guard Peyton Hensle scored 13 points. That was just the fifth game decided by single digits for a Westlake team that has won by an average of 26 points per game.
