President Donald Trump said Wednesday he soon will endorse a Republican candidate in the Texas Senate race, warning that the divisive contest “cannot, for the good of the Party, and our Country, itself, be allowed to go on any longer.”

2. Texan James Talarico becomes a fresh face of Democrats’ midterm hopes after Senate primary win

James Talarico did not mention Donald Trump when he greeted exuberant supporters at his primary night celebration.

However, the newly minted Democratic U.S. Senate nominee in Texas is now a frontman for the political opposition to the Republican president, not just in his own state but around the country. With his victory over U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, the state lawmaker from Austin will test whether a smiling message of unity and change is enough to answer voters’ frustrations amid discord at home and now a war abroad.

3. Texas-based military organization experiencing record demand for veterans in need

From serving about 200 service members per month a decade ago to nearly 2,000 now, a Texas-based national digital organization said it’s seeing record demand from veterans reaching out for help with financial and food assistance, career guidance and benefits.

The organization is called Combined Arms, and last year, it served more than 13,000 veterans in Texas alone.

Alanis Morissette, Ella Langley to perform at Spotify’s SXSW 20th anniversary showcase

Spotify has announced a 20th anniversary celebration for South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, featuring performances by Alanis Morissette and country singer Ella Langley. There will also be a DJ set from Annie Clark, who is better known as St. Vincent.
