TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Although not marketed as our game of the week, Thomas County Central’s game against Houston County pits two of the best in Georgia against each other.
The Yellow Jackets (8-0) welcome the Bears (8-0) to the Jackets Nest for a GHSA AAAAA Division 2 battle. Both these teams have man-handled their opponents this year. Thomas County Central’s closest game was a 14-point win over Lee County. Houston County won by five points in a low scoring affair early this season as their closest game.
The Yellow Jackets have never lost against Houston, but for a team that’s barely had to break a sweat to win this year, it’s the exact kind of test Thomas County Central needs before playoffs begin.
“You’re going to know a lot of answers after this game, kind of where you’re at and where you stand. Houston is really good, they’re going to know a lot of answers about them. This game, whoever wins it, is going to really catapult them to a really strong spot in the playoffs to make a deep, deep run,” said head coach Justin Rodgers. “Our 12th man is, bar none, one of the best in the state with our fans. So being able to play at home in the friendly confines of the [Jacket’s] Nest is going to be a big advantage for us and we want to take advantage of that.”
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
