HOUSTON — An investigation is underway after a man in his 50s was found dead lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head in southwest Houston, police say.
The Houston Police Department said the man was found near the intersection of Dairy Ashford and Brookglade around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Witnesses told investigators the victim comes to the area frequently to drink and visit with people. Lt. Willkens with HPD the victim was seen on security cameras in the area having words with two other men.
“It appears they were having some kind of disturbance,” Willkens said. “It wasn’t physical at that point, but they end up walking out here into the street, and that’s where we believe everything occurred.”
Willkens said the Houston Fire Department was initially called to the scene when a driver passing by noticed the man lying in the street.
“There’s no calls or shootings in the area. No calls of discharging firearms,” Willkens said. “Call came in to HFD by an individual just driving by. Said there’s an individual laying in the middle of the road. So we really don’t have any good witnesses right now.”
If you know anything about what happened, you’re asked to contact HPD or Crime Stoppers.
