At around noon on March 1, authorities responded to the scene of an accident in the 600 block of Independence Parkway.

A preliminary investigation found that a blue Chevrolet Volt was heading south on Independence Parkway when it drifted across the center median and collided with a white Lincoln Navigator.

Four people were riding in the Navigator at the time of the accident. One of them was declared deceased at the scene.

Authorities identified the deceased victim as Carter Heise, 15. Three other occupants of the Navigator were transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

One of the drivers, Murad Omar Howry, 30, of Plano, was arrested and booked into Collin County Jail on manslaughter charges. His bond was set at $50,000.

The Plano Police Department is still investigating the deadly incident and more details are expected to be released.
