HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Authorities are investigating after they say a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in northwest Houston on Thursday morning.

Sgt. Lyman Ross with the Houston Police Department said officers responded to the deadly crash near Salge Drive and Hollister Street at about 5:30 a.m.

Ross said the man was walking on the roadway “in low visibility” and “low lighting” when he was fatally hit by a maroon sedan.

The sergeant added that there were no signs of impairment in the driver, who remained at the scene, but the investigation is ongoing. He said no charges are expected to be filed.

Ross said that, though there are no sidewalks in the area, pedestrians should not walk in the roadways, especially when visibility is poor.

Officials have not identified the victim.
