Police say there is no active threat after officers responded to a shots heard call near 15th Street and Cole Street Thursday afternoon.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A reported shots heard call near Metro Elementary School of Design led to a precautionary lockdown Thursday afternoon as Corpus Christi police detained two individuals.
According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, officers responded around 12:14 p.m. to the area of 15th Street and Cole Street after reports of shots heard.
Police said two individuals were detained, but officials have not released additional information about the incident.
Authorities said Metro Elementary was placed on lockdown as a precaution while officers investigated the situation.
CCISD Police Chief Kirby Warnke said the reported incident did not occur on the Metro Elementary campus, but the school was temporarily secured to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Police said there is no active threat to public safety at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
