A 6-year-old child was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound in Arlington on Wednesday, police said.
Arlington police officers responded about 7 p.m. to a local hospital after medical staff reported that a 6-year-old child had been brought to the ER with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said in a statement.
Officers learned the incident occurred at a home in the 2300 block of Quail Run Road, where a discharged round went through the floor of an upstairs room and down into the room below where the child was at the time, police said.
A family member drove the child to the hospital after the shooting, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing to determine who fired the gun and who the weapon belongs to, police said. No arrests have been made as of Thursday.
