El Paso has been making national headlines all year. Now it’s time to make an impact right here at home. This Sunday, the community has an opportunity to roll up its sleeves and invest directly in the future of our city.
A Greener Morning at Paul Harvey Park
On Sunday, March 8 at 9:00 a.m., volunteers will gather at Paul Harvey Park (6220 Belton Road) for a community tree planting event organized by ASEZ WAO, also known as Mother’s Forest. The goal is simple: plant trees, strengthen our environment, and build a healthier El Paso. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, no experience is needed, just a willingness to show up and contribute.

This local effort is connected to something much bigger. ASEZ WAO’s global campaign, “Planting 7 Billion Trees,” is focused on reducing greenhouse gases and addressing climate change through collective action, using a strategy that is both straightforward and effective. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, improve air quality, reduce urban heat, and create stronger ecosystems, which makes this work especially meaningful in a border city that understands the intensity of heat and drought. Planting trees here is not symbolic, it is practical and necessary.
Why It Matters Here
El Paso has proven in 2026 that it can lead in arts, culture, and national conversations, and environmental leadership should be part of that story too. Community-driven projects like this build more than shade, they build civic pride, responsibility, and momentum for long-term change. Every tree planted is a long-term investment in cleaner air and cooler neighborhoods.
What You Need to Know
Wear comfortable clothing, bring water, and be ready for hands-on work, as all planting materials will be provided on site. If you want to get involved or need more information, contact ASEZ WAO at 915-273-1349. The future of El Paso will be shaped by the people who show up, and Sunday is your chance to be part of it.
