ARLINGTON, TX – The UT Arlington softball team fell 5-0 to Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday evening, after the Lions used an early advantage to take the game. The Mavericks moved to 8-13 on the season.

The Lions struck first in the opening frame. Shelby Morris led off with a single and later came around to score Cydnee Schneider delivered an RBI single to left field, giving Southeastern Louisiana a 1-0 advantage.

After a quiet second inning, Southeastern Louisiana broke the game open in the third. Maria Detillier started the rally with a single before Schneider doubled to center field to move her into scoring the middle to score Detillier, and Colleen Kulivan added a two-run single to center later in the inning to push the Lions’ lead to 4-0.

The Lions later added another run in the fourth inning. Detillier singled and later scored when Kalyn Watson reached on a fielding error, extending the lead to 5-0.

Both teams were held scoreless in the fifth inning as UTA turned defensive adjustments in the field while the Mavs continued searching for offensive momentum.

UTA threatened in the bottom of the fifth when Kaylee Schweitzer drew a walk and advanced to third, but SLU was able to escape the inning and keep the Mavericks off the board.

The Lions added pressure again in the seventh with three hits to load the bases, but UTA worked out of the jam to prevent further damage.

Southeastern Louisiana pitchers Cera Blanchard and Tyler Oubre combined to throw a no-hitter in the 5-0 victory.
