Austin police said at least one person was injured in the crash early Friday morning.

AUSTIN, Texas — A multi-vehicle crash is prompting road closures early Friday morning near Slaughter Lane in South Austin. 

According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), all lanes of northbound Interstate 35 heading towards Slaughter Lane are shut down because of the collision. 

TxDOT said the crash happened sometime before 4:50 a.m. Friday in the 9900 block of I-35. 

Several semi-trucks appeared to be involved according to KVUE crews on scene, but the exact number of vehicles is unknown at this time. Austin police said at least one person was injured in the crash. 

Drivers on the roadway are being rerouted to Exit 226 at Onion Creek Parkway. Delays are expected until further notice.
