HOUSTON — Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research has received another major donation from the Kinder Foundation.
The $55 million grant includes $50 million for the institute’s endowment and $5 million for immediate research and program needs to benefit Houston, the institute said March 5. The funds allow the institute to build on existing partnerships, work with partners regardless of whether they can afford to pay for research, and respond to community research needs quickly during times of crisis, such as a catastrophic storm or pandemic, Kinder Institute Director Ruth López Turley noted in a news release.
