1. New 40,626-square-foot retail, shopping center coming to west Plano
A new retail shopping center and grocery store is slated for construction at the intersection of Preston Road and Spring Creek Parkway. Plano’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved a concept plan for the development in December. Developers with the Promontory on Preston mixed-use project are moving forward with four new retail buildings, according to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

2. ROUNDUP: See updated election results for Texas House, Senate races in Collin County
Several races were held during the March 3 election, including positions at the county, state and federal level. More than 72,000 ballots were cast in Collin County during early voting, which ran Feb. 17-27. The turnout represents nearly 9.66% of registered Collin County voters.

3. Walmart sets opening date for new Celina location
Celina is set to welcome its first Walmart this spring, a company spokesperson confirmed. The new supercenter will officially open April 29, while the location’s fuel station will start serving customers on April 15, the spokesperson said.

4. Construction on $3B The Mix development in Frisco hits 1-year milestone
The Mix, a $3 billion mixed-use development in Frisco, has been under construction for over a year. Tim Campbell, head of development for The Mix, said construction crews have made progress on infrastructure, retail buildings and residential space, and plans for office buildings and an underground parking garage are in the works. Retail tenants could even start interior work later this summer. Phase 1 spans the north 28 acres of the development along Lebanon Road and the Dallas North Tollway and includes 635 residential units, 115,000 square feet of office space and over 100,000 feet of retail, including Frisco’s first Whole Foods.

6. New monuments coming to downtown Prosper
Prosper residents are set to see a new construction project coming to downtown Prosper. The $603,402 contract will include building four railroad-inspired columns at Main Street and Broadway Street and five lighted monuments near Broadway Street and Crockett Street.
