SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KLTV) – Athens man Lightning Aguilera roped in over $34,000 in winning at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.
Aguilera competed as the header and he and his heeler Wyatt Cox finished in first place of the second round of the Super Series Five for $2,752. They then placed in second place in the third round to win $2,202. In the qualifying round, they finished first for a check of $4,954. In the wildcard round, they finished first for $5,504. In another qualifier, they finished first for $5,504 and then they finished in a tie for first place in the finals for $13,760.
Lightning Aguilera wildcard round
There were two other East Texans who won money in San Antonio. Justin Shaffer of Hallsville won $13,760 in steer wrestling. Roper Will Woodfin of Marshall won $6,056 in team roping. Steer wrestler Holden Myers of Van won $14,862.
Keene Justesen of Malakoff won $835 in the saddle bronc competition at Wide Open Pro Rodeo in Florida.
Kash Martin of Lufkin won $1,320 in the bareback competition at La Fiesta de los Vaqueros in Arizona. Hayden Ford of Whitehouse won $528 in the tie-down roping competition.
