Austin, TX – March 6, 2026: Today, the Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton officially launched an investigation into Austin High School for allowing a male to use the female restroom in violation of the Texas Women’s Privacy Act. Texas Values assisted a parent in Austin ISD with filing an official complaint with the OAG after Austin High School allowed a boy to use the female restroom for months, despite the parent letting them know this was happening. AG Ken Paxton warned Austin High and Austin ISD in an official notice that they must follow SB 8, the Texas Women’s Privacy Act, or face steep penalties if they do not comply.

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations, said:

“I am pleased that the Texas Attorney General is continuing the investigation of the Austin parent’s complaint and that he is coming out strong with a warning shot that Austin High School must comply with the state law. Girls should feel safe in their restrooms and locker rooms at school and Austin ISD is no exception to the law”.
