Marion County officials report tornado damage from overnight storms

MARION COUNTY, Texas (KSLA) – A heavy line of storms moved through east Texas Friday night (March 6) into Saturday morning (March 7), bringing with it a reported tornado.

Just after 3 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for western and central Marion County. Around 3:10 a.m., KSLA received reports of a confirmed tornado on the ground.

Around 4 a.m., County Judge Leward J. LaFleur signed a disaster declaration for the county due to reports of damage received.

Marion County officials stated they have received damage reports from the tornado from around Berea through most of the northern and central portion of their county up to the Cass County line.

At least three people (a mom, dad, and child) were injured during the storms, a family member of someone who sustained damage tells KSLA. The circumstances surrounding how they got injured are currently unclear.

County officials have confirmed that one small mobile home was hit. It’s believed the people who were injured were inside the mobile home at the time of the reported tornado.

Also, officials have noticed plenty of damage to several roofs and barns. Several trees are snapped or torn down along the damage path.
