A 28-year-old man was identified as the person who died after fleeing police and then crashing under an interstate overpass in Fort Worth Monday evening.
Kendrick Gipson died of blunt force injuries at the scene at 8:30 p.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
During a follow-up investigation into an aggravated kidnapping, Fort Worth officers encountered a suspect vehicle just after 6:30 p.m., according to a previous statement.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver, identified as Gipson, failed to yield and fled northbound on Interstate 35W.

As police chased the vehicle, they said Gipson took the Pharr Street exit from I-35W, lost control and crashed into a concrete pillar under the overpass.
Gipson died at the scene. Police said he was the only person in the vehicle.
Officers did not provide an immediate response to The Dallas Morning News on why Gipson was suspected of aggravated kidnapping.
