Flood Advisory for north and northeast Harris County until 9:15 p.m.

Severe weather threat Saturday: Severe Thunderstorms Watch until 11 PM for Colorado, Jackson, Matagorda and Wharton counties. Watch means there is a chance severe storms may develop but all the ingredients need to come together. until 11 pm

We’re tracking a cold front moving into warm, humid Gulf air, which will trigger thunderstorms and some of them could turn severe.

Level 2 of 5 (Slight Risk) for severe weather across most of Southeast Texas.

That means scattered severe storms are possible, but it’s not expected to be a widespread outbreak.

Our Saturday morning starts with a muggy feel and temperatures in the 70s. The winds will not be as strong as they’ve been the past several days. Besides an isolated light rain shower we should be rain free.

The storms stay mainly north of I-10 across Harris County. Storm begins to push through Harris CountyBy 9 pm: Storms chances wind down around 9 and we remain dry until Sunday morning.Clearing out as storms move into Louisiana⚠️ Main Threats:

Damaging wind gusts – possibly 60+ mph in the strongest cells.

Large hail – isolated but possible mainly west and north of the loop.

Heavy rain – could cause street flooding, especially in poor drainage areas.

tornado – low probability, but not zero. The organized threat is well northeast of Houston.

A level 2 of 4 risk for excessive rainfall is in place for the areas to the north that you see in yellow.

With repeated storms, some locations could see 1–3 inches of rain, possibly more locally.

Bottom line:

Expect storms Saturday afternoon and evening.

A few could be severe, mainly producing strong winds, hail, and heavy rain

Sunday’s forecast:

No severe concerns Sunday for southeast Texas. However, there will be thunderstorms spotty to scattered throughout the day, with ample dry time in between.

Watch for heavy downpours that could lead to ponding and lightning when storms pass.

If you are hoping for lower temperatures, you get your wish Wednesday. This cold front will move through Houston. It will also bring a line of strong thunderstorms, possibly severe. After we get through this weekend, we’ll give you more details on timing and threats.

With all the talk of storms, I want to remind you we move our clocks forward an hour early Sunday morning. We Spring Forward with Daylight Saving time starting Sunday. Monday and Tuesday’s rain chances are small. After Wednesday temperatures lower to the 70s with a couple of mornings in the 50s. Be safe this weekend.
