Skip Bayless is firmly on the side of Brandon Aubrey as the kicker’s contract situation with the Dallas Cowboys starts to draw attention this offseason. Bayless recently voiced support for Aubrey’s push for an eight-figure payday, arguing that the standout kicker has earned a bigger deal after his impressive performances.
The disagreement highlights a familiar offseason storyline around the league players believing their value has climbed while teams try to keep spending under control. In this case, the gap between what Aubrey is reportedly seeking and what Dallas appears willing to offer sits at roughly $5 million, setting the stage for a contract standoff that has already sparked debate among fans and analysts.

Bayless took to X to share his thoughts on Dallas’ recent decision saying, “Brandon Aubrey is worth exactly what he’s asking for – 10 million. He’s that valuable.”
How Will This Play Out for Brandon and the Dallas Cowboys?
The Dallas Cowboys have made their first official move to keep standout kicker Brandon Aubrey in Dallas, placing the $5.76 million second-round restricted free agent tender on him. The tender essentially keeps Aubrey tied to the Cowboys for now while also protecting the team if another franchise tries to lure him away. If another club signs him to an offer sheet and Dallas declines to match it, the Cowboys would receive that team’s second-round draft pick as compensation.

Even with the tender in place, the bigger goal remains a long-term extension. Team owner Jerry Jones has already said the organization presented a deal that would make Aubrey the highest-paid kicker in the NFL, topping the $6.4 million per year currently earned by Harrison Butker of the Kansas City Chiefs. Reports suggest the Cowboys’ offer is around $7 million annually, while Aubrey’s side—represented by agent Todd France is believed to be seeking something closer to $10 million per season.

Since arriving in 2023, Aubrey has quickly established himself as one of the league’s most dependable kickers. The former soccer player has converted 112 of 127 field goal attempts, drilled a 65-yarder, and already holds the NFL record with six field goals from 60 yards or longer. In 2025 alone, he made 36 of 42 kicks, with every miss coming from 51 yards or beyond.
