COLLEGE STATION —Texas A&M basketball is locked into its slot in the upcoming SEC Tournament and could face a familiar foe in the second round.

On the final day of the 2025-26 regular season, the Aggies (21-10, 11-7) defeated the LSU Tigers in triple overtime and secured the sixth spot in the upcoming tournament. First-year Aggies coach Bucky McMillan has completed five consecutive years with 20 or more wins dating back to his time at Samford.

Who A&M is set to play won’t be determined until Wednesday, when the 11-seed Oklahoma Sooners takes on 14-seed South Carolina Gamecocks. The Aggies will play the winner of that matchup in the final game of the day Thursday.

A&M beat Oklahoma twice this season,  83-76 Jan. 10 at Reed Arena, then again 75-71 Feb. 21 in Norman, Okla. The Aggies only faced the Gamecocks once this season, but dismantled them 92-69 in College Station.

With A&M battling on and off the bubble over the last month of the season, a couple of wins in Nashville, Tenn., would help solidify its place in the NCAA Tournament, but may not be necessary following its final two victories of the regular season.
