The man exited the vehicle and began walking with the woman in the lane of travel along the Highway 360 entrance ramp.

The man was struck while he was walking by a 2025 Ford Maverick entering the highway ramp. He died at the scene, according to the statement.

Police said the driver of the Ford stopped, cooperated with investigators and is not facing any criminal charges at this time.

The unidentified woman who had been walking with the man was not injured during the crash, the statement said.

Police urged people to take every precaution to avoid walking on highways, including shoulder areas.

“Vehicles traveling at highway speeds can require significant distances to slow down or come to a complete stop,“ the statement said. ”If it becomes necessary to exit, individuals should do so with extreme caution and only in safe areas away from moving traffic.”
