Four candidates have filed to run in a special election happening in May to fill the empty Bellaire City Council Position 4 seat.
How it happened
After Cindy Cohen-Taylor vacated her seat early in December, City Council officially adopted an ordinance in January to call a special election to fill the vacant seat.
Cohen-Taylor won her seat for Position 4 on Bellaire City Council in the Nov. 4, 2024, race against opponent Elan Tavor, as previously reported by Community Impact.
In a Dec. 3 social media post, city staff thanked Cohen-Taylor for her contributions to the city and her time spent on council.

Candidates interested in the position could apply for a place on the ballot from Jan. 26 to March 3.
