The victim was found at a home in Shreveport after the initial report of a kidnapping came in to dispatch at an apartment complex in Carthage.

PANOLA COUNTY, Texas — A person accused of kidnapping someone in East Texas early Friday morning and dropping her off in Shreveport has been hospitalized after a crash, authorities say.

According to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office, a female called 911 around 5 a.m. saying she needed help but the call disconnected. Dispatch tried to call back, but a male answer and original caller could be heard yelling for help.

The suspect said he was taking her to Louisiana and would drop her off. Then, around 6:30 a.m., deputies and other agencies responded to a one-vehicle crash on County Road 3031 off the Loop in Panola County. The driver was determined to be the kidnapping suspect, the sheriff’s office said.

The suspect told deputies that he dropped the victim off outside a business in Shreveport, Louisiana. The victim was found at a home in Shreveport around 10 a.m. and she is now receiving medical treatment, the PCSO said.

Investigators determined the initial 911 call happened at an apartment complex in the city of Carthage. The suspect remains hospitalized for injuries from the crash.

The case is still under investigation, and no names are being released at this time.
