Most of us experience Lubbock the same way every day: from the ground. It’s flat, windy, and not the most glamorous. But seeing the city from the top of the tallest building in town totally changes the perspective.

From above, Lubbock looks way different from what you’d expect. The streets form an almost perfect grid that stretches out toward the horizon. Downtown feels much smaller than it does at street level, and the vast South Plains suddenly start to make sense. You can see how the city sits in the middle of what seems like endless land.

It’s a reminder that even if you’ve been living here for years, there are still views of Lubbock that most of us never get to see on a regular basis.

View From The Top

I had the opportunity to live at the top of the tallest building in town, The Metro Tower, for a couple of years, and the view was incredible.

I took thousands of photos of the sunsets and storms while living there, and I try to include them in my stories about Lubbock every time I get the chance.

Here’s a huge gallery of my favorite view of the city.
