Officials with the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center announced March 5 the national launch of a new traveling museum exhibition called “The Journey to End Cancer: From Cause to Cure.”

The exhibition, according to a March 5 news release, brings cancer science to life through interactive, multimedia experiences that showcase the research, technologies and therapies used to shape the future of cancer care.

At the exhibition, visitors can expect to:

hear first-person stories from cancer survivorssee insights from experts at top cancer centersengage with dynamic animationparticipate in interactive gamesMuseum-goers will be able to see the full spectrum of cancer science, from how the disease begins to the future of detection and treatment. Per the release, visitors will also be able to use cutting-edge tools to discover cancer in different parts of the body and learn how scientists identify early warning signs.The new exhibit aims to make complex science more accessible by bringing it to communities in an easy-to-understand and exciting format. Peter W.T. Pisters, president of MD Anderson, said he hopes the exhibit will help people understand the complex world of cancer care in a more easily digestible setting.

“We are living through an extraordinary time in cancer research and care,” he said in the news release. “Scientific discoveries are opening a world of possibilities for novel treatment approaches, as well as improvements in diagnostics and cancer prevention, all leading to better outcomes. Through the dynamic and engaging exhibit, we hope to make this complex subject more accessible to a variety of people, no matter their interest in oncology, science or medicine.”

“The Journey to End Cancer” will be at The Health Museum from March 7 through Sept. 13. After its time in Houston, the exhibition will travel to other cities nationwide throughout the next five years, with a portion of proceeds from each stop supporting cancer research and treatment at MD Anderson.
