Houston police said officers were helping serve a warrant on Bellfort Street when they shot an armed suspect.

HOUSTON — Houston police officers were involved in a shooting on the southeast side on Monday.

The Houston Police Department posted about the incident on social media around 1 p.m., although it’s unclear when the shooting actually happened.

A very heavy police presence was spotted on Bellfort Avenue near South Wayside Drive. Crime scene tape blocked off the road, and dozens of law enforcement officers were seen in the street, including HPD officers, Harris County Precinct 7 Constable’s Office deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety state troopers.

HPD said some of its officers were helping serve a felony warrant when they came across an armed suspect. Officers opened fire, and the suspect was struck. No officers were hurt.

The suspect’s condition is unknown.
