A person suffered minor injuries after being hit by a train in Hermann Park in Houston.

HOUSTON — A person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after being hit by a train in Hermann Park on Monday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said the call came in around 2:05 p.m. for an auto-pedestrian incident involving a train along Fannin Street near Cambridge Street.

According to investigators, a person was walking on the train tracks when they were struck by an oncoming train.

The person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Authorities said the train operator remained at the scene, while passengers who were on the train left the area after the incident.

In a statement, Hermann Park officials said emergency responders were called to the park following what they described as a serious incident involving a pedestrian and the park train.

“Our team immediately contacted emergency services and is cooperating fully with first responders as they manage the situation,” the statement read. “Out of respect for the individual involved and the ongoing response, we will defer additional details to the first responders.”

Officials added that the park train will return to full operations on Tuesday.
