During School Social Worker Week, Fort Worth ISD celebrates professionals like Lindy Gonzales who work behind the scenes every day to ensure students have the support they need to thrive, both in and out of the classroom.
Gonzales has dedicated her career to supporting students and their families. For the past 11 years, she has served as an Adolescent Pregnancy Social Worker in FWISD, including the last five years at Polytechnic High School.
In her role, Gonzales works closely with pregnant and parenting students to help them stay on track to graduate. From connecting families with healthcare, childcare and community resources to providing emotional support and parenting guidance, her work focuses on helping students overcome barriers and continue their education.
Gonzales believes that meeting students’ basic needs is essential for learning. When students feel safe, supported and heard, they are better able to focus on their education and their future.
Her greatest reward is seeing students reach important milestones, especially graduation.
