LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The speed limit on Woodrow Road has been reduced to 45 mph, with new signage ordered and expected to be posted soon.
Commissioners said the change is intended to protect businesses, schools, construction sites, and new homes along the corridor.
Pct. 1 Commissioner Mike Dalby said the decision was driven by safety concerns raised by community members.
“You know, they just wanted to slow things down. There’s been some accidents out there and unsafe driving. So, they brought this to me and we thought it was a good idea to slow things down during this construction process in order to protect some drivers,” Dalby said.
The speed reduction is effective immediately. While new signs have been ordered, commissioners are urging drivers to keep their full attention on the road in the meantime.
