A person in a wheelchair who was trying to cross a west Fort Worth street died after being hit by a vehicle on Saturday, March 7, police said.
The car was going northeast in the 6600 block of Camp Bowie Boulevard about 8:30 p.m. when it struck the person in the wheelchair, who was not using a crosswalk while crossing the road, Fort Worth police said in a statement.
The driver immediately stopped and called 911, police said.
The person in the wheelchair was pronounced dead at the scene and will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office after the next of kin have been notified.
The driver, who has not been publicly identified, was evaluated and did not show signs of intoxication, police said.
Police said the driver was arrested on unrelated misdemeanor and felony warrants.
