SAN ANTONIO – A suspect accused of fatally gunning down a man during a home invasion has been arrested.
Police say a man was found shot to death inside an apartment off Fredericksburg Road early Oct. 26, 2024, and investigators later identified Felix Brandon Garcia as the suspected shooter.
According to police, officers were dispatched at 4 a.m. to an apartment complex at 5315 Fredericksburg Road for a “shooting in progress” after a caller reported hearing gunshots in the building and seeing bullet holes in the wall of the caller’s apartment. Police said the wall was shared with the victim’s neighboring apartment, and the caller estimated the shots happened about 15 minutes before the call.
Officers found the victim’s door ajar with no signs of forced entry, police said. Inside, officers found the victim dead with apparent gunshot wounds and several spent shell casings.
Police also noted a clear QuikTrip cup with a straw and black lid, containing a red liquid, was on the victim’s dresser and was “still cold with condensation.”
A witness in a nearby apartment told investigators they heard loud pops but did not realize they were gunshots, police said. The witness then looked through a front door peephole with a view of the victim’s front door and saw a young adult male wearing a red hoodie exit the victim’s apartment, followed shortly by a teenage male wearing a black shirt and cap, according to police. The witness also heard a female voice yelling at the two males from what sounded like closer to the parking lot but could not see the female. The two males ran down the staircase and appeared to go left, south, police said.
Police said video footage timestamped 3:39 a.m. from a doorbell camera on a garage building facing the east side of the victim’s apartment building showed three people running through the parking lot: a person with long red hair wearing light-colored long sleeves and pants, a person in a red hoodie, and a person in a black shirt. A female voice could be heard on the video, police said.
Investigators later developed probable cause to arrest a female suspect who has since been indicted, according to police. Police said the woman initially refused to provide information about the two individuals who were with her at the apartment complex.
Police said a tipster provided information about the younger of the two males who was at the victim’s apartment when the victim was shot. Investigators said the younger male agreed to give a statement and positively identified Garcia as the person who shot the victim. Police said the indicted female suspect was re-interviewed and also identified Garcia as the shooter.
Based on witness statements and surveillance video, the affiant wrote that it is their belief Garcia “intentionally and knowingly caused the death of the Victim.” Police said Garcia is accused of committing the offense of murder “on or about the 26th day of October, 2024,” in Bexar County.
