AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Police Department Auto Theft Detectives are requesting public assistance to identify individuals involved in a series of vehicle burglaries and thefts in Northwest Austin.

In several incidents, suspects have been seen stealing and burglarizing vehicles while brandishing what appeared to be firearms, according to a press release from the department. Surveillance footage from one incident shows a group of suspects approaching a residence, with two individuals visibly holding firearms and pointing them toward the home, while accomplices burglarize or steal vehicles parked in the driveway. Detectives believe the armed suspects were providing cover for the burglary, indicating a potential willingness to resort to violence if confronted.

The Austin Police Department considers these individuals dangerous due to the armed nature of the offenses. They urge anyone who recognizes the suspects, has information about these incidents, or believes they may have been victimized to contact the APD Auto Theft Unit at (512) 974-5265 or via email at ATIP@austintexas.gov.

For public safety, the department advises against confronting these individuals. If you observe the suspects or witness any criminal activity in progress, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
