LUBBOCK – Shooting lights out all season, Texas Tech senior guard Donovan Atwell established new program and conference records and has been named to the Big 12 Newcomer Team and earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. The 2026 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 men’s basketball awards were voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Atwell led the conference and is second nationally with 121 made 3-pointers – establishing a new Texas Tech single-season record. He leads the conference with 3.9 made 3s per game and is second in the conference by shooting 45.8% from beyond the arc. Nationally, he ranks second in total 3s and makes along with being third in percentage. Atwell goes into the postseason shooting 121-for-264 (45.8%) on 3-point attempts and is averaging 13.6 points per game. He has scored in double figures in 13 straight games, including going for 23 points after making six 3s against BYU in the regular-season finale. Atwell scored a season-high 26 points against Kansas State after going 6-for-9 on 3-poionters and made a season-best seven at Baylor after going 7-for-10. He finished the regular season with 12 games making five or more 3s and scored 20-plus in four games.

In conference play, Atwell was 81-for-169 (47.9%) on 3-pointers and averaged 15.6 points per game. His 81 made 3-pointers against conference opponents established a new Big 12 record – breaking the record of 80 made by Buddy Hield (Oklahoma) in the 2015-16 season. His 121 made 3s is currently the second most ever in Big 12 history, passing A.J. Abrams (Texas) who made 120 in the 2006-07 season and only behind Hield who had 147 total 3s for the Sooners during that season. Atwell’s 3-point total broke the previous program record of 94 that had been held by Cory Carr since the 1996-97 season. Atwell is currently only behind Samford’s Jadin Booth who has made 127 3-pointers this season.

A Huntersville, North Carolina native, Atwell transferred to Texas Tech this season after three seasons at UNC Greensboro. He goes into the postseason with 1,312 points and 332 made 3-pointers through 125 career games.
