Dallas police are investigating after a person was found dead near a Lake Highlands park Monday night, according to a statement.

Dallas Fire-Rescue was called around 7:38 p.m. following reports of a body being found in a creek bottom, spokesperson Jason Evans said.

Officials retrieved the unidentified body and confirmed they were dead at the scene, Evans said.

Police responded to a call for assistance from DFR around 8 p.m. in the 8500 block of Walnut Hill Lane near Harry S Moss Park, according to the statement.

Officials said they have not determined whether the death will be investigated as a homicide.
