In a Facebook post, owners of Taqueria Cancun thanked customers.

HOUSTON — After more than four decades in business, a northwest Houston taqueria is closing its doors.

The owners of Taqueria Cancun restaurant at 2227 Gessner made the announcement in a Facebook post.

“For over 40 years, Taqueria Cancun has been more than a restaurant — it has been a place where our community gathered, laughed, celebrated, and shared meals together,” the post said.

The family thanked customers for their years of support, saying many people who first walked through the doors as customers eventually became friends. Some patrons even grew up visiting the restaurant, something the owners said they will “always carry in our hearts.”

“As we prepare to close this chapter, our hearts are filled with gratitude for all the love and support you have shown us throughout the years,” the family wrote.

Taqueria Cancun’s last day will be March 29. The family invited customers to visit during the restaurant’s final weeks “to share one last meal together.”

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for these 40 beautiful years,” the post said.
