Aziz Guerra, a 20-year-old from El Paso, is a talented singer showing his music chops on the competition show, NBC’s The Voice. Guerra earned on a spot of Adam Levine’s team Monday, March 9.
In his video interview, Guerra said he was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, but moved with his family to Texas when he was 8. He is currently living in Boston and is a student at the Berklee College of Music. He is in a mariachi group and also active in musical theater.
“José José is an artist that I really looked up to. His style is just unique, and I would like to bring all these beautiful songs to people my age and it’s a huge honor to be performing it, especially here on “The Voice”. These coaches, the three of them, they’re champions, so a chair turning would literally mean the world to me,” he said before singing.
All three judges were impressed with his range and described his voice as rich and textured.

Adam Levine said he always likes it when someone sings in another language, but he also has to take other considerations into account.
“When someone comes out, and they’re singing another language, I always have to take a beat because I’m like, ‘OK, I want to turn because it’s not in English.’. My inclination is ‘I want to be a part of this no matter what’. But then I go, OK, let’s take a listen because there’s other things I want to hear,” he said. “And so, it can be a novelty if you’re not careful. You have a lot of power and the way you deliver some of those lines towards the end, I was like super happy.”
