Another round of rain is headed to North Texas, bringing back the threat of severe weather.

Showers are possible Tuesday morning but are not expected to be widespread, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office. The chance of severe weather — tornadoes, gusty winds and hail — is expected to rise along with the chance of rain in the evening and stay high into the early morning hours.

During this period, gusty winds and tornadoes are more likely to develop west of the Interstate 35 corridor. The initial round of severe weather is expected in the Big Country, near or west of Highway 281. As the system moves east, it could bring intense weather to Fort Worth and surrounding cities, but the threats should diminish as the storms move across the metro area.

The chance of hazardous weather is expected to end around midnight, but heavy rain is likely to continue until about 4 a.m. Wednesday. Showers may continue through the day, with about one inch of rain expected.
