EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The University of Texas at El Paso’s athletics department said it is looking into an incident that happened Saturday during UTEP’s men’s basketball game and was caught on video.

Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter released the following statement:

Following Saturday’s postgame incident, we have been conducting interviews with the individuals who were involved, plus observers and our security team. It is important that we get the full scope of what happened before drawing any conclusions. Based on our findings, we will take any disciplinary action internally, and we’ll also work to implement any policies and procedures that will ensure the safest environment possible for participating teams and spectators in the future.

Senter is referring to the video that was shared on the popular social media account @therealfitfamelpaso.

The video appears to show a confrontation between fans and players with the Jacksonville State Gamecocks and a confrontation between two men in the stands, appearing to clash over the behavior

The game ended 64 to 61, with the Gamecocks beating the Miners.

It was played at the Don Haskins Center in West El Paso.
