Two North Texas women were arrested after allegedly smuggling dugs and cellphones into a federal prison in Louisiana in exchange for $40,000.

DALLAS — Two women were arrested after allegedly using a plastic crow as a decoy to smuggle drugs, cellphones and tobacco into a federal prison, Louisiana authorities said.

Melanie Jean Worthington, 38 years old, of Joshua and Kassy Marie Cole, 41 years old, of Hurst, allegedly admitted to being paid $40,000 in exchange for using a drone and a plastic crow to smuggle contraband into a federal prison in Louisiana, the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post. 

The plastic crows, which were strapped to a drone, were allegedly filled with drugs, cellphones and tobacco and were dropped onto the grounds of a federal prison, officials said. 

Worthington was arrested for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and taking contraband into a penal institution, the post states. 

Cole was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, taking contraband into a penal institution and an outstanding warrant.
